Class Descriptions

Cardio & Strength
Pump it up for a total body workout with low impact cardio moves followed by a functional strength routine.

Core Conditioning
Focus on strong abdominals and healthy backs and hips while conditioning the core.

Dance & Tone
Shake, sway and shimmy to popular dance music followed by resistance training for an overall body shape up.

Dance & Fit
Move and groove to a high-energy choreographed cardio workout set to popular music.

Ease into Fitness
Ease into a fitness routine for a good start on a healthy lifestyle while enjoying a routine of cardio, strength and stretches to tune up the body.

Try this resistance and endurance training in a fast-paced, non-choreographed workout.

Feel the music in this exhilarating program that uses Ripstix® (lightly-weighted drumsticks) that transform drumming into an effective workout for all levels.

Power Fit
Boost strength and stamina with this high energy class that includes power moves, intervals and challenging core work.

 Synrgy Burn
Energize and feel the burn in this interval based functional training class that features this signature piece of equipment in the fitness centre.

Synrgy Circuit
Target all major muscle groups and feed off the energy of teammates rotating through functional training stations on this signature piece of equipment in the fitness centre.

Synrgy Express
Maximize time and efficiency in this 30 minute, full body workout using functional training stations on this signature piece of equipment in the fitness centre.

Total Body Conditioning
Work with a variety of resistance equipment for a head- to-toe strength and endurance routine.

Lengthen, breathe and relieve stress while balancing the body with gentle yoga poses.

Drop-in Fitness Classes

Be motivated and have fun in a group-based class led by an inspiring instructor with upbeat music. Exercise options are provided for different fitness levels.

We offer Group Fitness and Yoga drop-in classes for ages 13+ years. Drop-in Aquafit classes are also available at Minoru Aquatic Centre. Older Adult classes are designed for people ages 55+ years.

Drop-in classes are included with Minoru Centre for Active Living facility admission. For the safety and enjoyment of all, the number of participants is limited. Classes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please check in at the front desk to purchase your admission and pick up your drop-in fitness class wristband. Wristbands are available 30 minutes before the class start time.


Drop-in Fitness Class Etiquette

To keep your workouts fun and safe for all, follow these guidelines.

  • Be respectful to all staff and fellow participants. This is a group workout in a community space.
  •  Arrive on time to class. Latecomers are not permitted after 5 minutes.
  • Use lockers for personal belongings and store all equipment in a safe area to the side.
  • Be sure to participate in the warm up, cool down and stretch to help prevent injury. Each component of the class is equally important.
  • Listen to your body and work at your own pace. Ask for help if needed.
  • Keep hydrated! Drink water before, during and after the class.

If you are new to the class, arrive early and introduce yourself to the instructor. Review the PAR-Q+ form annually to ensure you are ready to begin exercise.

Group Fitness

Group fitness or “aerobic” classes provide upbeat cardio, strength, endurance and flexibility training. Classes vary in format from teaching patterns set to music, to circuit style or interval type training.

Classes are held in a studio space or on the Fitness Centre floor. All equipment is provided.

Minoru Centre for Active Living also offers registered fitness classes. Schedules change seasonally and may include:

  • Barre Moves
  • TRX Suspension Training
  • Zumba
  • Zumba Gold


Drop-in yoga classes are an excellent introduction to yoga or a great way to round out a fitness routine. Focus on flexibility, injury prevention and relaxation as a certified instructor leads you through different poses and breathing.

You are welcome to bring your own mat. Mats and other props are also provided.

We also offer registered yoga classes. Schedules change seasonally and may include:
