Class Descriptions

Arts – Dance Music & Performance

Ballroom Dance (Additional $2)
Practice steps in a non-instructional setting.
Sing with joyous sounds and energy that flows from this group.
Minoru Community Line Dancers (Additional $2)
Practice routines with the opportunities to perform.
Platinum Players
Theatre group promoting laughter, camaraderie, and self expression through theatre games, script readings, and skits.
Peking Opera
Performers practice this unique form of Chinese Opera that synthesizes speech, singing, mime, and music.
Multicultural Dance (Additional $2)
Practice a wide range of popular dances with an opportunity to perform in the community.
Saxophone (Additional $2)
Join this fun, non-instructional, drop-in saxophone session. Participants must bring their own saxophone to each session.
Ukulele Circle (Additional $2)
Join this fun music circle. Ukulele required at each session.

Arts – Visual

Chinese Calligraphy (Additional $2)
Practice the art of writing Chinese Calligraphy in this drop in program.
Kingsland Calligraphy | Cantonese
Practice writing calligraphy with this non-instructional group.
Minoru Writers
Discuss ways to improve writing skills with avid readers and writers.
Photo Group
Share photography knowledge, listen to speakers and take part in photoshoot outings.
Wood Carving (Additional Pass Required)
Turn wood into beautiful carvings. Tools and carving materials required.
Wood Working (Additional Pass Required)
Build creative projects in the fully equipped woodworking shop.

Knit personal and centre supplied materials to fundraise for the Society.
English Social for Chinese Speakers
Meet Chinese-speaking seniors to practice English and socialize.
Hanging with the Guys
Connect with other men to discuss hobbies, sports, and more. Light refreshments available.
Knitters and Knatters | Cantonese & Mandarin
Knit with personal supplies to fundraise for the Society.
Spanish Social | Spanish 
Socialize with Spanish-speaking seniors from Latin American countries.

Sports & Movement

Billiards (Additional Pass Required)
Play snooker in the billiards room. Pool cue rental locker box is available.
Carpet Bowling
Try this social game that is played indoors on a long “felt” carpet.
Model Walkers
Walk like a model on the runway in this fun and social movement class.
Tai Chi Practice (Additional $2)
Practice a series of gentle physical exercises and stretches.
Yuanji Dance | Cantonese & Mandarin (Additional $2)
Experience a guided mixture of choreographed dance, meditation and qigong originating from Taiwan.

Parkinson’s Support and Prostate Cancer Support Group
Get support, share information and listen to guest speakers discuss ways to manage these diseases.
The Seniors Facility Pass supports the Minoru Seniors Society. It is available for individuals 55 years and older and to spouses under the age of 55 years.
Complimentary Seniors Facility Pass are available to honour those 90 years and older.
